Amazon's Q1 2026 earnings release on April 29 drove a sharp rally in AMZN shares, with diluted EPS of $2.78 crushing the $1.64 analyst consensus and revenue hitting $181.5 billion against $177.3 billion expected, propelled by 17% net sales growth, strong AWS cloud performance, and $16.8 billion in pre-tax gains from Anthropic investments. Shares traded around $261 early in the April 27 week before climbing to $265 by May 1, touching intraday highs near $274 amid heightened AI capex optimism and e-commerce momentum.
